Physical EducationPHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Patty O'Brien, Carli Turner, Leanne James Years Foundation-6 students enjoy weekly Physical Education lessons in our gymnasium and school grounds. Students are also involved in additional programs throughout the year, such as Gymnastics, Athletics and Swimming. Living a healthy and active lifestyle is promoted at Maiden Gully Primary. Our school physical education program aims to provide students the skills to engage in a range of physical activities to suit all interests and abilities. During Term One, students from F-2 will be focussing on the fundamental skills of throwing, catching and kicking. The students will be taught the skills and then put these into practice through playing games and completing various activities aimed at these skills. The students in Grades 3-6 will be focussing on striking, fielding and invasion games. Students will be given scope to practice these skills through various games and sports. Towards the end of the term all students from F-6 will begin athletics in preparation for the athletics sport which will be help in Term 2. In addition to their normal P.E. sessions the Foundation students will also begin the Perceptual Motor Program (PMP). The students will get one session of PMP each week with the aim of connecting sport to their classrooms and the word around them. We are looking forward to the term ahead and most importantly having fun in P.E. YEAR LEVEL SPORT PROGRAM
