Term 1 Learning Program

Literacy
In reading this term we will be working through the CAFE strategies that focus on developing comprehension, accuracy, fluency and expanding vocabulary. Students' reading goals will be communicated through their reading diaries. Our expectation in Grade 3 is that students read at least 5 nights a week and that a parent or guardian has signed off on this. We thank you in advance for your support with home reading.
In writing this term we will focus on developing our skills in writing narratives and persuasive texts. We will also focus on practicing our handwriting.
We will continue with the Soundwaves Spelling Program.  Students can log in at home and play the spelling games and practice segmenting words each week. The at home log in is yummy550.

Numeracy
In Numeracy this term students will work on recognising and explaining odd and even numbers,  exploring 3D shapes, comparing objects using length, counting with fractions, representing and interpreting data, exploring patterns in number and developing their knowledge of whole numbers.

Topic Studies
In Topic Studies, we will be exploring the history and diversity of our culture, beginning with the history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Communication
Class Dojo – Class Dojo is our number one communication tool between teachers and parents. Please regularly check your child’s class Dojo page for reminders of upcoming events and to see photos during online learning.
